“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:8).
Too often, I find myself focusing the upcoming year upon myself and/or the relationships around me. The video God’s Year is meant to remind us that this upcoming year and everything in it, i.e. our relationships and resources are God’s. While it is a very good thing to plan, it is even a better thing to pray and plan. How many times have we resolved ourselves to do something good for God and at the same time fail to commit ourselves to God? We put the doing before the being.
Here is a simple truism that is found in Scripture and in life: God’s work in us produces His work through us. The indicative compels the imperative…the being produces the doing.
First and most, this year I devote myself to God. This is His year to do as He has planned in and through my life. As Chambers stated, my utmost for His highest. I am resolved to do spend more time with Him…in His Word and on my knees. Will you join me?
